Water at the bottom of the ocean is very cold despite the large amounts of pressure. Cold water sinks because it has higher density than warm water and the deeper you go the less sunlight there is, therefore it gets colder as you go deeper. Although, radioactive decay is constantly leaking from the Earth’s core, there isn’t nearly enough to heat the waters at the great depths of the seafloor.
